What did Samuel Marsden see?

LI: To use the information in the diary extract to create an image of                                                                                                      what we think Samuel Marsden saw when he sailed down the Tamaki awa.

Our task was to use Adobe Express and use the Mt Wellington photo to recreate and add things that we would imagine Samuel Marsden to see when we arrived there. We had to upload the original Mt Wellington photo to the Adobe Express and use the insert/add tool to add what we want in the image. Something I found interesting about Adobe Express and the image is how I get to add anything I want and I get to make the image filter either lighter or darker to match the mood I want when I imagine Samuel Marsden seeing Mt Wellington. I was really interested in the tools and what I get to change the image into.

Who was Samuel Marsden?

LI:

  • To understand who Samuel Marsden was.
  • To see our local whenua through Samuel Marsden’s eyes.
  • To understand the importance of Samuel Marsden Diary.

Our task for Inquiry was to create a DLO, And to research about who Samuel Marsden was and to learn about Samuel Marsden’s diary.  Something I learnt interesting about Samuel Marsden was that he was a Church missionary bringing Christianity to New Zealand and was the father of Weslayen Blacksmith who was a farmer, a butter manufacturer and a seller from New Zealand. I was really fascinated by his history from his diary and who Samuel Marsden and what he did for a living.

Samoan Culture with Mrs and Mr Tele’a

This term our Inquiry topic has been Cultures. We have been learning about the Samoan culture.  Today, Mr & Mrs Tele’a taught us about how they got their traditional Samoan tattoos.  Something I was found interesting was how they had to massage out the mix of ink and blood out of their legs in the ocean, so they didn’t get sick. After the presentations and interview, they gave out chop suey to everyone. We sat together and shared a meal.  I enjoyed the food I got to eat, and what Mr & Mrs Tele’a told us.

Cybersmart

This week for Cybersmart we were doing fake news we  needed to learn to investgate on how we will know if the news is true or fake. Our topic for our fake news was about Mountain Octopus, I picked this because I thought It will be cool and a very intresting story to tell.
