Dot To Dot Connection: The Kuaka

LI: To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you have made.

As a group create a blog blurb that explains the information in our own words. If you collaborated say what this means and how this helped you combine your knowledge because we know what the definition of words that are simallar to flying and kuaka. Something our group found interesting was how good our teamwork was and how collaborate with eachother because we talked to eachother as a group and helped ones that were sturggling.

Photo Story

LI: To understand the concept of visual storytelling.

Our task was creating a Photo story of our walk to Pt England Reserve by using the photos from the walk. To create a story by using photos we want to put the photos in the time order by explaining how fun our walk was I always wondered how long the walk took. One thing I liked about our walk was that we had fun playing around and also when we got  back to school and did a fun podcast about what questions we have for Samuel Marsden.

 

Pepeha

LI: To let others know who I am so they can make connections to me and my place in the world.

Our challenge today was to write and record our pepeha to introduce ourselves. I found this interesting because I get to learn my Pepeha in Maori because I can learn Maori and understand to help people know what it means and what they are saying. Representing the Maori Culture and where your from making you feel proud of where you come from too.

Expectations

LI: To co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2.

Our challenge today was to co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2. We thought about what we expected to happen so we could make the most of our learning time then thought about what our teachers expected.

I collaborated with my group which was Ataahua, Marwan, Donyal and Dito, which I enjoyed because we have created friendship and collaboration between my group. This activity was a good and fun task because my team got to show confidence and show there talent.

North Island Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills.

Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words. Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was a moari myth said that the kokako filled its wattles with water and brought it to Maui as he fought the sun.

Kauri Dieback

LI: To understand how we can help prevent Kauri Dieback disease and why we need to do this.

Our challenge today was to use the links provided and our own smart searching skills to find out what Kauri dieback is and what we need to do to try and prevent this from spreading. We need to know about this so that we do our part to keep our Kauri safe when we go on hike at camp. I worked with Ataahua and Cattaleya, and what we found it interesting that the kauri dieback can auctally die if it catches a disease, So if you are on a bush walk and there is a cleaning station make sure to clean your when you enter and exit.

Evolution Of The NZ Flag

LI: To understand the story behind our flag.

Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time. Something I found interesting was that the flag was originally made from a missionary named Henry William, He styled the flag of the church missionary society such as the British White Ensign, Which also is a St george’s Cross with a flag in the corner.

Moment In Time

LI: To write a poem that describes a moment in time.

Our task was to get into pairs but I didn’t go to camp so I had to buddy up with someone who did go to camp. We had to create a DLO and write a poem that describes a moment in time at camp in one of the activities of our choice. Me and my partner chose to write a poem about the building a raft activity. We had to finish off the sentence of  I heard, I saw, I felt and I wondered and finish the rest of the sentence of what happend there. I also had to help my partner and ask my partner questions about what my partner did at the raft building activity. Something I found interesting was that I got to work out and help my partner what happend and I got to learn what happend there at the same time.

 

Working In Groups

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups. 

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from each other to help us with our learning and help us with communicating with our other classmates. What your responsibility as a group member is to always help others be included and help our group with their work. Why talking to others about your learning is important because it can tell us more about the information we are learning about and to help us communicate. How working in a group helped you understand more about how to work together and how to participate more in your groups and to understand when there sharing there ideas to your group.

What did Samuel Marsden see?

LI: To use the information in the diary extract to create an image of                                                                                                      what we think Samuel Marsden saw when he sailed down the Tamaki awa.

Our task was to use Adobe Express and use the Mt Wellington photo to recreate and add things that we would imagine Samuel Marsden to see when we arrived there. We had to upload the original Mt Wellington photo to the Adobe Express and use the insert/add tool to add what we want in the image. Something I found interesting about Adobe Express and the image is how I get to add anything I want and I get to make the image filter either lighter or darker to match the mood I want when I imagine Samuel Marsden seeing Mt Wellington. I was really interested in the tools and what I get to change the image into.
