For maths, this week me and my group learned all about integers! Integers are whole numbers that can be positive, negative, or zero—so numbers like −3, 0, and 5 are all integers. We explored how to add, subtract, and multiply them, and even used a number line to see what happens with positive and negative numbers. For example, with subtraction, 5 − 3 moves three steps left on the number line to 2, and 5 − (−3) moves three steps right to 8. For multiplication, 2 × 3 jumps two steps of +3 to land on 6, while 2 × (−3) jumps two steps of −3 to land on −6. Using integers helps us understand better.
